my husband is trying to fix my Adler 467 sewing machine today and it’s been shredding thread.
the hook timing is way too advanced, and there’s a bind in the needle bar assembly that’s actually pushing the unit away from the hook. This is causing the thread to rub hard against the feed dog hole, definitely not ideal.
the machine is also bone dry. Even with oil in the reservoir, the wicks aren't pulling anything, so I’ve got it soaking for now.
he said he'll check the oiling system once he can get the mechanics moving smoothly.
It’s a solid machine overall, but man, Adler and Pfaff really love over engineering things
there are so many extra moving parts compared to other brands
hubby said I'll be sewing great once the binding is cleared up
I’ll post more if there's an update!
