I made my first bifold about two years ago and it came out... functional. The edges were sloppy because I didn't bevel before burnishing, the stitching was inconsistent in the corners and I used too thick a hide for the card slots so it barely closed. But I learned more from that wallet than from anything I read beforehand. The do-overs will be to choose a 2-3 oz leather for thin sections, bevel every edge before anything else and do a dry assembly with clips before committing to stitching. Also, dye before you assemble, not after. Trust me on that last one.

That’s basically the standard first wallet experience, everything looks simple until stitching corners and edge finishing show you what actually matters.
