I truly believe a solid pair of metal scissors is the most underrated tool in any leather shop. They give me way more control than a razor or a rotary cutter when I am trimming down stock or shaping belt ends. I used to spend forever fighting with a knife for small cuts, but now I can just snip through edges in seconds. They are not perfect for a straight cut on very thick ten ounce leather because the blades can twist a bit. But for removing loose grain or doing quick detail work, they are a total lifesaver. I suggest looking for full tang metal versions like Gingher or Ernest Wright so the pivot does not flex under pressure.

It is a good idea to wipe the blades down after cutting oily leathers to prevent any buildup or rust.
