I accidentally burned a hole in my computer mouse palm rest with a soldering iron. I cut a replacement out of some leather I had sitting around. What would be a good adhesive to secure the leather to the plastic housing?

FYI, the old adhesive is like nothing I have ever seen before. I soaked it in goo-gone twice, tried a razor blade, alcohol, 80-grit. I spent most of yesterday trying but nothing is getting the rest of the residue off. I am up to suggestions but I'm just going to have to live with it at this point.

For something like that, I'd probably reach for a quality contact cement. It bonds leather well, stays flexible and handles the constant hand pressure a mouse rest sees. Just rough up the surfaces a bit and clean off as much residue as you reasonably can.
