I'm still figuring out adhesives and could use some advice. Mostly working with leather-to-leather joins, but every now and then I want to attach fabric as a liner or accent. There's a ton of glues out there... contact cement, fabric glue, spray adhesives, etc.... and I can't tell what actually holds up long term without making a mess. For those of you who've been at this longer, what's your go-to in 2025 for clean, reliable bonds? Something that works well for both leather-to-leather and leather-to-fabric would be ideal.

A good contact cement or a specialized leather adhesive usually gives the strongest, durable bond. For leather to fabric, a flexible fabric or multipurpose contact adhesive works best, combine a thin layer of contact cement with stitching for extra durability

I agree with the guys here, contact cement is still undisputed for leather-to-leather joins and Barge is a trusted one! Look for the toluene-free version and all you need is to apply a thin, even coat to both surfaces, let it get tacky, and press them together. The bond is permanent and super strong. It's a bit more tricky for leather-to-fabric though since fabric glues and spray adhesives can soak through and leave a mark, especially on thinner materials. For that, I'd recommend a good-quality water-based leather glue like the Renia Aquilim 315. Just be sure to test on a scrap first to see how your specific materials react!

@WealthyLepant I agree with everyone, contact cement is the indusry's standard for a reason. also brands like Barge and Tannery Bond are still the go to choices for a super strong leather to leather bond.
the trick to keeping it clean is to apply a very thin, even coat on both surfaces you want to join. Use a glue spreader or a small brush.
let it dry until it's tacky to the touch (usually 10-20 minutes, depending on the humidity), then press the pieces together perfectly. The bond is instant and permanent, so you only get one shot

if you like a clean, reliable bond on both leather and fabric, it's best to use a water based contact cement. Brands like Renia Aquilim or Tandy Eco Flo are great
