Glue recommendations anyone?

I made a small belt pouch over the weekend and tried Fiebing's Leathercraft Cement for the first time. I usually use Barge, but wanted something that doesn't smell strong indoors. The glue went on easy, but it didn't stick well to my veg-tan leather, especially on the curved parts. I clamped it overnight, but the corners still came loose the next day. I'm making a few gifts, so I was hoping for a cleaner option. Maybe I didn't clean the leather enough before gluing? Or maybe this glue works better on thin leather?

What glue do you all use for small leather projects? Looking for recommendations. Thanks!

I've seen a lot of people run into this when switching from solvent-based to water-based cements. Fiebing's works well for holding pieces in place before stitching, but it usually isn't strong enough for seams that need to flex, like on a pouch. If you want a low-odor glue that's both permanent and flexible, try a water-based polyurethane adhesive such as Aquilim 315. You're absolutely right about cleaning, scuffing both sides of the veg-tan with rough sandpaper really helps any glue stick better. How did you prep the leather before using Fiebing's cement?

For small leather projects I stick with Barge or Weldwood contact cement, it has stronger hold, even on curves. The water based stuff like Fiebing's just doesn't grip veg-tan as well
