Howdy, it's funny I was thinking about adding a way to attach my short starter to my hunting pouch strap and I saw this site on the muzzleloading forum. Hope I can find out how to do that here.
Thanks

We don't see where you added any photos. And welcome to the forum. If you have issues attaching the images, please post what happens and I may be able to help you.

Do you get a message when they upload but don't show? What size is the file? And what is the extension? I'll be able to check the settings to see why they aren't showing.

No message they appeared to load but did not show any images.
Thank you !

Well I don't know if its the really bad WIFI hotspot we have at work here, or something else.

@Alan if you try to use the "Attach Files" button, it shows that they load but that is all. There is no actual attaching, or request to do so. It goes through the upload sequence but that is all. I tried using the "Insert Image" button, but each time it said, "Oops we have a problem". They are jpeg files about 5800KB. Message me your email and I will forward them to you.

Ok. I think the issue was that the photo was too large. I did some reducing and cropping and got this one to work

And I can now answer that question. Take a piece of leather that matches the strap, and as wide as you want it. It will have to be big enough so that when you see the two ends down, that barrel protector can slide past it. Then punch a few holes evenly apart and sew each end down.

That help?

Thanks for persisting on the size of the photo issue. And thanks for helping with the issue at hand.

Thank you for posting pics. So I would like to not be able to see the stitching if that's possible and the bottom would be closed so the tip of the starter can't be lost or get snagged when I'm trying to use it. If it makes sense.

That would entail a little more creativity. Use a bigger piece of leather, of course, that is the length of the stem. Maybe make it a pointed so that it snuggles the tip of the starter and help hold it tighter. Getting the stitches inside the "tube" will be a bit harder. Lay out all the holes on both sides and punch the holes with the tube on the strap so that they all line up. You are going to need fairly long needles.

Start at the very bottom hole and put the outside of the tube onto the strap. Almost like you are going to sew it inside out. Then work your way up one side in the same manner, with the outside against the strap. It's going to get complicated. Fold the tube over and start at the bottom again. Insert your needle from the inside of the tube and just work your way up. It's gonna be a pain, but it will work.

Is that clear as mud?

That's kinda what I was thinking punching all the holes then lace everything very loose then start tightening as I go. The bottom closed end will be tricky to form maybe I can stitch that before trying to attaching to the strap?

Ok I think I get your idea here. So yeah, make a tube inside out that will be as wide across the top as the strap. Turning that tube right side out may be tough without it being thin leather. Then sew that tube to the strap. You could even see it with the inside of the tube against the strap, so that it flops over the stitches and hides them.

No the round ball on top would be sticking out so the pieces that covers the rod and tip should only be as big as necessary so it's a snug fit.
