Is there a zipper glue that actually works?

I’m struggling with gluing zippers for hand stitching. contact cement doesn't grip the fabric well enough, and double sided tape is a nightmare, it leaves so much residue on my needles that I can barely pull them through

how are you guys keeping your zippers straight and secure while you stitch without ruining your tools?

desperately need some advice or tips now

Do you skive the edges? That helps a lot. Sometime paper clamps also works but you need to use a cloth or foam to avoid clamp mark.
