Hello all I figured I would ask a question about a SAA belt holster combo plans for what they call a Hollywood low slung pistol Rig like Matt Dillon used on Gun Smoke for a general idea of what I am talking about, it’s for a five and a half inch barrel, I can’t seem to find a drawing or Template plans for one . Thank you any kinda help would be appreciated.

Check out leathercraft pattern makers who sell downloadable templates, or I hope someone could eventually be of help but if you can't find exact plans, you could try modifying a standard SAA holster pattern by lowering the belt slots or adjusting the cant

I did just that, my brother gave me an old rig he got from his brother in law it’s In pretty bad shape so I am going to cut the stitching lay it out and make patterns from it, should work out good and it’s for a 5.5” barrel just what I need.

@Wade That's a smart move using the old rig as a template. :) You'll get the fit just right and still keep some of that character in the new one.

Thanks JFK the 3/4 oz veg tan just arrived for the liner of the holster and belt so I will be able to start work on it pretty soon to get the ball rolling .

I don’t know whether to go with a thong style hammer hold down / keeper or with the traditional pull down style lace type, the old rig that I am using as a template has a hole where the lace hold down was at one time long since gone I guess deteriorated. There are some changes I am going to make with using this old Rig as a guide because now I have a wonderful base in which to work with now I can make it my own so to speak. Nothing out of the norm or anything like that but very subtle changes to the way I would want it, i am excited to say the least am using John James 2/0 Needles with Cream colored Ritza Tiger thread in 1.2m and Fiebing’s dark show brown pro dye with a Spanish brown liner holster and belt along with the bullet lace I hope it turns out as cool as it sounds Right LOL what I may do is make some patterns from this wonderful old Rig and offer it here to anyone who would be interested in this kind of leather work perhaps.
