I've been itching to create a high-quality leather guitar strap simply for the fun of it. The funny thing is, I don't actually play guitar

I was wondering if anyone here has experience making one and could offer some advice on the best dimensions, sizes for the strap button holes, or any favorite designs. I want to make sure I do it right, whether it's for a gift or maybe even to sell a few later on.

Any recommendations or patterns you could share?

That sounds awesome! Even if you don't play, it's a cool project, standard strap width's around 2.5 inches, button holes about 3/8", you can look up vintage patterns, they're classic

Why not base the design on popular strap styles from well-known brands so it feels familiar to players even if you're crafting it just for the joy of it?

Well, who says you have to play to make them? Go ahead!! It should be fun. Most are 2-2.5 inches wide and around 45-55 inches long. Strap button holes are usually about 3/8in yeah like @Bobby said, but cutting them slightly smaller works better so they stay snug. Check out patterns from places like Tandy Leather or leathercraft forums, they're a huge help. Just focus on clean edges and a good finish, especially if you plan to gift or sell them later.

This will be a nice gift to someone who plays a guitar though! Have you picked a leather type yet? Full grain or veg tan works great for durability and style.
