I finally got my grandma's Singer 16-188 all fixed up, and now is back to its original state (hopefully lol).

I can't start sewing since I'm completely unfamiliar on how to put a thread on it. I'd really appreciate any tips from the pros here. Just a newbie trying to figure it all out haha.

First, begin by winding a bobbin. Once that's done, thread the top: go from the spool pin to the tension disc, then to the take-up lever, and finally thread the needle from left to right through the eye. Next, place the wound bobbin in its case and pull the thread through the slot. To bring up the bobbin thread, just turn the handwheel.

hi @Hanniel , just want to say that the most important thing to remember is to always thread the machine with the presser foot raised.
When the presser foot is up, it opens the tension discs and allows the thread to sit correctly. If you thread it with the presser foot down, the thread will just sit on top of the discs, and you'll get a big, tangled mess underneath your fabric

Try YouTube. I have a Spartan, and there are a few more steps to threading a 188

That's a great machine to get running! You'll love it! The key to threading it is making sure the thread path is perfect. Start with the spool, go through the upper guide, down between the tension discs, then up through the take-up lever. Follow the guides down to the needle, making sure to hit the last one right above the eye. For the shuttle bobbin, wind it evenly and seat it properly. Take your time and you'll be sewing in no time!
