need technique advice

I'm planning a new weekender bag and need to nail a specific rigid shape.
I'm wondering if wet forming is the best way to get that exact, stiff structure, or should I just build a metal wire frame into the seams?
Also, I prefer the look of chrome tanned leather, but I keep reading that veg tan is the only real choice for wet forming. Any advice on the best technique and leather type for a super rigid shape before I buy materials?

You might consider using a veg tan because it can be wet formed and will hold its shape once it dries. While the chrome tanned leather tends to stay softer and more flexible even after shaping. You can also use a wire frame to add support.
