Lots of talking lately about hand stitching vs machine. They both have their pros and cons and some leather workers are using both.
I only hand stitch, it’s my choice. I do not hate machines and recognize some of their advantages. Yes, hand stitching takes a lot longer but, to me, it adds so much more to the piece I am working on. The flavor of a past long gone and continuing centuries of traditions, these are priceless feelings and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
Here is the back of a bag I am working on. Just an awl, thread and needles… not even a real pattern but it does bring some of the past alive.
