I have a few meters of leather that I'm sure is perfect for a denali leather chest holster

I want to make a simple one to keep my glock 20

Does anyone made one of these? Can you tell me what tools I need to make my own holster?

Thanks in advance guys!

aww, nothing like real leather for a proper chest holster frr. I made something similar for my G20 last season, and I've loved it, so hear, you won't need a ton to get started, just a few basics and a bit of patience but you see the trickiest part is getting the mold snug around the pistol, but once you wet form it, the rest comes together with a bit of stitching and strap work. I'd say give it a shot, way more satisfying than buying one off the shelf...thats if you get it ready tho lol

Sounds like a cool project. for this, you will need quite a few things like a good knife and leather needles!

Ah you're in for a fun project, I like the Glock 20 in a chest rig, its a good setup, especially for hiking or backcountry carry and then if you're using thick leather, you're gonna love it

The Glock 20 in a chest rig is definitely a great option. I'm looking forward to seeing how your project comes together

Oh that sounds like a fun project! For a Denali chest holster, I think you better start with some basic leather tools mainly sharp knife, stitching needles, and some wet molding to get that perfect fit around your Glock 20. Patience is key. ;)

You're gonna love making that. Grab a sharp blade, edge beveler, stitching awl, and some waxed thread. It's a lifechanging thing you know... wet-forming leather.

I've got some basic leather tools from a belt project last year, but I've never tried wet molding. How tricky is that part? And are there any brands you'd recommend for stitching needles or leather that hold up well outdoors?

You can wet mold and form Vegtan leather in to literally any shape you can imagine, if your making a chest pack and that sounds like what it is to me you will need and this is what I would use 5/6 oz vegtan leather, 1.0 mm Ritza tiger thread in any color you want basically and 1/0 John James needle and since you have worked already on your belt project I would think you have your pricking irons or chisel punches for your stitching holes and your all set. If you have anymore questions just post again and if I see it I will try and help , usually I look at this site daily because it shows up in my email in the morning. OH and about your wet forming question you can form your leather over a square piece of Tupperware or somthing of that sort for what ever size you want to make.

Solid breakdown. Using 5/6 oz vegtan leather is just right for making chest packs. Shaping it when it's wet over something like Tupperware works great. And yeah, Ritza thread and JJ needles are exactly what is needed.

The most important part of the process is creating a good pattern. You can either find one online or make your own by tracing your pistol onto paper, adding the necessary allowances for stitching and forming. If you are a first-time holster maker, I suggest start with a simple design. The process involves cutting your pieces, molding the holster to the gun's shape while the leather is damp, letting it dry, and then punching and stitching everything together. It's a rewarding project, and you'll definitely be proud of the result.

Make sure to secure any stress points, especially where straps connect to the holster, using rivets or Chicago screws.
