making my first pattern

I've made a few items using leather. bags, wallets, belts, etc. they are all great
now I wanna take one step to the next level. I wanna make a pattern on the leather
thinking about making a leather passport cover. I've got the pattern I want, just didn't know how to start
can anyone give me tips on how to make a pattern or maybe some easy tutorials? TIA

I saw one before from Buckleguy. Looks good. But it's somewhere $8. Not sure if anyone here knows free a one.

You can also download free templates online, tape it to the leather, punch your holes and cut it carefully. You can also use a wing divider or ruler too mark stitch lines and a scratch awl to lightly scorethe design before cutting or tooling.
