Just finished this 8 3/4"X7 3/4" bark tanned deerskin bag. It has a tapered gusset, the trim and welts are folded bark tanned and it has an inner pocket. I also lined the flap with some bark tanned because the flap piece was so thin. Working with bark tanned deer skin has it's challenges as it is thick and thin in areas of the hide. Even though the color comes from the process of bark tanning, I still do some antiquing.

That bag looks amazing. It has the right size for everyday use and it shows how much care went into working with bark tanned deerskin. The hides from bark tanning aren’t perfectly even. Just a tip, you might want to consider adjusting the thickness.

Even though tanning already gives it natural color, antiquing makes the finish richer.

Thanks so much! Yes I skive areas I need to especially the folded welts a trim and sometimes the edges.
