Recreating the 18th Century Hunting Pouch - T.C. Albert

I was once on the train and saw a guy carrying this book and actually wearing a pouch! It's impressive! He got off right when I decided to approach him and start a conversation. I really got intrigued. I think it's a resource definitely worth checking!

Yup, this book and the 2 DVD set with Ken Scott, "Recreating the Kentucky Rifle Hunting Pouch," are great resources on design and methods. While I don't adhere to or agree with all of Scott's methods, he does get the job done with great results.

Pair this combo of book and DVD with Stohlman's book on hand sewing and the Neil Armatage YouTube videos and even a total beginner will get going quickly. Much flatter learning curve than many of us.

When I first attempted to make a pouch, I struggled to piece together various bits of advice and grainy videos from way back. I really wish I'd had that book at the time, it would've saved me so much trial and error, especially when I was stitching in the dim light on the porch.

Very good book. I have made one of the bags in it from the patterns in the back of the book.
If you want make early American possibles, bags this book is a must have,

Dave
