I am ready to start my first leather project but I want to keep my total tool cost under $50. I keep looking at those big starter kits on Amazon with 60 or 70 pieces and they look like a good deal for the money.
One kit has a nice wooden storage bag and stamps while another focuses more on stitching and edge tools. But I am worried that most of the items in those kits might just be low quality filler that will break or get dull right away. I would rather buy a few good tools that last than a box of junk I will never use. I am thinking about just getting a basic awl and some stitching chisels to start.
I want to know if anyone has used these cheap kits or if I should just buy three or four solid tools separately to stay within my budget.
