Its pretty straight forward from the title, I came across a tub of construction glue in the workshop so I'm curious, anyone done anything with it before?

I wouldn't recommend using general construction or Formica glue for leatherwork, especially for anything you want to last or look professional. These glues typically dry rigid and inflexible, which is terrible for leather that needs to bend and move. They are also often messy and hard to clean up without damaging the surface. You should stick to glues made specifically for leather. A quality water-based contact cement like Barge, Fiebings, or Renia, or a dedicated leathercraft glue will stay flexible and give you a strong, clean bond. Save the construction glue for the workshop projects it's intended for!

I totally agree with @HandyDanny. Formica isn't good for leather since it's too rigid. It will crack when the leather flexes, and trying to clean up any squeeze-out on a nice piece of veg tan would be a nightmare! I suggest getting even just a small can of Barge. That will last you ages and give you the proper flexible, bomb-proof bond. Just stick to the leather-specific contact cement. It's not worth it to risk a good project trying to save a few bucks on the wrong adhesive.
