hand stitching VS sewing machine for a beginner?

I have a great industrial sewing machine cause I like to sew clothes. I'm a beginner in leather craft, and I want to make a leather sleeve for my laptop. what to choose for a first project? a machine or hand stitching?

I prefer hand stitching because it teaches control and gives you a feel for how leather behaves. You have the option to use your machine since it can handle lighter leathers. It would still depend on your preference but hand stitching is good for beginners.
