Is $200 Juki DDL-555 a bargain?

I found a Juki DDL-555 industrial sewing machine for only $200 and I'm seriously considering buying it. But I want to use it mostly for making wallets and other smaller, fine leather items, and I'm not sure if this model is actually the right tool for leather.

Quick search I see DDL-555 is generally a straight-stitch machine for garment materials and not the thick stuff you find in leatherworking, which usually needs a walking foot to feed the material evenly. So I'm thinkg now if $200 a good price for this machine even if it is only a flat-bed. Anyone knows what modifications like a roller foot or special needles would I need to make it work well for my wallet projects? Need to know before I transact with the seller. thanks!

Juki's a good brand so I think that's a good price.

That's a good damn deal. If you are into buying and selling, I think you can still sell it for around $300 and up.

hi @banananana just wanna tell you that you should carefully check the condition when buying used sewing machines, especially with such a low price.
definitelly need to check the physical condition for rust or damage, test its mechanical and electrical functions (including stitches and motor), and inspect the accessories and wiring.
it's best also to check the availability of parts and service

I agree with them! Just some advice if you plan to move into heavier leather in the future. I recommend that you save your money and just get a walking foot model instead.
