Hardware/accessory shops

Do you buy your hardware and accessories locally in your area? Sometimes it's hard to find the good pieces. Or you just order online. What shops do you recommend? I mean unless you're business, I think buying from manufacturers can work but we normally just make one or tow of the same thing.

I prefer buying them in the local hardware store in my area. I want to see the pieces in person before buying them.

I like holding the tools in my hand before buying them. But when I know the brand and have used the tools, I usually buy them online.

Any online shop recommendations? The online shop where I usually get my supplies keeps running out of stock.
