Chisel sizes

Avoid using a small chisel on thick leather. This is a common mistake that can create too many holes and weaken the seam. Just look at the distance between the teeth. Always keep in mind that wider spacing requires thicker thread to fill the gap properly.

Makes sense. Thanks.

Just use a 4-5 mm chisel for heavy tool belts or thick leather bags. For a stronger thread for better durability.

What is the best way to determine what size chisel to use for whatever project I may work on?
Don't forget that your thread has to fill the hole. If you use a 4.0mm chisel with tiny 0.4mm thread, it’s not gonna look good

A good pairing is 0.6mm thread for 3.85mm spacing. If you go up to a 5mm chisel, you’re looking at 0.8mm or 1.0mm thread to make that seam look solid and intentional
